Lara Evelyn is the owner and lead designer of Evelyn Elizabeth Design, an interior design firm rooted in the belief that great design happens when we lean into, and celebrate, our wonderfully weird and whimsical quirks.
When friends and family walk through the door, they should instantly recognize you in the home, not simply that a designer has been there.
One of my grandmother Evelyn’s greatest talents was finding something special about everyone she met. Maybe it was how impossibly tall they were. Maybe it was the way they accessorized an outfit. Maybe it was some wonderfully odd little detail that no one else seemed to notice. Evelyn had an appreciation for the quirks of the world and, more importantly, a way of making people feel that their quirks were worth noticing.
My design philosophy is no different. I’m always searching for that spark, that little glimmer of uniqueness that makes someone them. The things you love that maybe no one else quite understands. The oddities, the curiosities, the wonderfully weird details that make a home feel personal rather than perfect.
Because I believe those are the things that inspire the most special design. Not trends. Not what you see on social media. Not a room that could belong to anyone. Your spark is where we start.
With nearly a decade of experience as a buyer and planner at Bloomingdale’s, Lara brings a strategic perspective to design, one that values clarity, transparency and thoughtful decision-making at every step.
As a small-but-mighty firm, we keep our process highly personal and our involvement highly intentional, bringing together a trusted network of architects, contractors, specialty finishers, makers and other general magicians of the home along the way.
From whole-home design and new construction to multi-room projects, single-space transformations and thoughtfully layered room refreshes, we offer both full-service and consultation-based design.
Based in Northern New Jersey, Evelyn Elizabeth Design works with clients locally in the tristate area, nationwide, and in Lara’s hometown of Toronto, Canada.
